What actually changes
MP4 and WMV are not the same picture in two wrappers.
H.264 video is re-encoded to WMV3 or VC-1 and the audio to WMA, then wrapped in an ASF container.
Worth knowing first
You are converting to a format Microsoft itself stopped developing over a decade ago. The file gets larger and slightly worse for the same quality, and it will not play on macOS, iOS or Android without extra software. Only do this when something specific requires it.
