What actually changes
PPTX and PDF are not the same picture in two wrappers.
Each slide becomes a fixed page with the fonts embedded, so the deck looks the same on every device. Text stays selectable and hyperlinks keep working.
Worth knowing first
Animations and transitions collapse to their final state, so a slide built to reveal five bullets one at a time prints with all five visible at once. Builds designed to hide the punchline until the end give it away in the PDF.

Are speaker notes included?
Not by default. The notes pages are a separate export layout and have to be asked for explicitly.
What happens to embedded video?
It becomes a still frame, usually the poster image. PDF cannot play it.
Why did my fonts change?
They were not embedded in the PPTX and were not available to the renderer. Embed fonts in PowerPoint before converting.
